Palmer Creek Session

For families who don't mind a little adventure.

Hunt Homestead is a private six-acre property with open fields, wooded trails, a tree swing, chickens, and one of my favorite features: a gorgeous natural creek lined with white rock.


There is so much variety here, but this isn't a manicured park with a paved path to the water. The creek portion requires a little more adventure, so please read through the details below before choosing this location.


It's important. It's my only location that gets its own webpage, and you'll learn why shortly.

What This Location Has to Offer

The property itself is approximately six acres, which gives us plenty of room to create a gallery with a ton of variety.


Depending on the season and what’s available during your session, we can likely photograph around:

  • A large open field with beautiful golden-hour light
  • A cleared path that’s perfect for walking, running, and movement shots
  • Smaller wooded trails for a cozier feel
  • A wooden tree swing: one of my favorite little spots here
  • The creek with gorgeous water and white rock
  • Chickens! The owner may be able to let a few out for us if requested ahead of time
  • Props for young children may be available upon request, including a red tricycle, white chair, white rocking horse, wagon, and other small pieces


The variety is a huge part of what makes this property special. We can start with the warm, open-field portraits, let little ones explore the trails, play on the swing, and then completely change the feel of your gallery when we head down to the creek.

A Timeless + Golden Hour Exclusive

Because there's so much to explore on this 6 acre property, this location is available exclusively with my Timeless Session ($375 session fee + property rental fee) and is photographed during golden hour. Anything shorter simply can't do it justice.


Property Rental - $55

Hunt Homestead is privately owned and currently requires a $55 one-hour rental fee, separate from your photography package.


The property does not have an online booking system, so I'll coordinate the reservation directly with the owner.

Before You Choose the Creek...

Here's the responsible-photographer part. Lol.


This is private country property in its natural state. That means uneven terrain, dirt, bugs, snakes or other possible wildlife, water, and other normal outdoor hazards. There is also an active beehive near the chicken area; guests must stay away from the red Jeep and the area behind it.


The biggest consideration, however, is creek access.



There is no traditional walking trail down. Reaching the creek requires descending a steep, secured metal ladder followed by steep natural dirt steps. 


I've included a photo of the actual access point so you can decide whether everyone in your group can comfortably and safely get down AND back up.


Young children are welcome if a parent or guardian can safely assist them, but please consider everyone attending; including children, grandparents, anyone with limited mobility, afraid of heights, or anyone uncomfortable with ladders or steep terrain.


It is taller and steeper than it looks.


If you're looking at that ladder thinking, Absolutely not, Jaden, listen to your gut.

Getting IN the Creek

Once we're down there, plan for your feet to get wet.


There's no dry path to the white rocks, and parts of the creek bed can be extremely slippery from naturally occurring algae, so I recommend water shoes with good traction. Barefoot is always an option and photographs beautifully in creek images, but again, it is slick. You may want to plan for an unexpected swim.


You can bring your photo-session shoes separately and change as needed.


A towel and change of clothes for little ones are also a great idea because, well... sometimes the creek has other plans.


If getting a little wet, dirty, or having your outfit touch nature will ruin your evening, this probably isn't the location for you.


If your family can roll with a little adventure? This place is incredible.


Weather + Safety

Creek access is especially weather-dependent. Recent rain can make the dirt unsafe, and creek conditions can change quickly.


Right below the ladder is a few very steep dirt steps. Muddy conditions will make this portion of the access extremely difficult to navigate. We're absolutely going to avoid fall-risks, mudslides, and flood-risks.


If I believe weather or creek conditions make access unsafe, we will not attempt the creek. (We will not use the creek if it is raining or recently rained.)


We'll watch the forecast as your session approaches and make a backup plan if needed. Depending on conditions, that may mean photographing another portion of the property, choosing another location, or rescheduling if the creek is a priority.

Booking + Waivers

This location requires two completed liability waivers before your session:

  1. Hunt Homestead's property-owner waiver
  2. Light Reclaimed Photography's location-specific waiver/acknowledgment

A session will not take place at this location without completing these.


Your photography retainer and property rental fee are both due at booking to secure the respective reservations.
